Do you experience homesickness often? I know I do. I moved to Australia in 2015 to be with my now husband, Adam. As you may know we met at Disney World while completing one of the most adventurous internships.
To be honest, it is the best decision I made; to move in the name of love. I admit, most of the time I struggle to understand what he is saying. He has a very strong Australian accent, but I sure do love hearing him speak! One of his many enchantments!
But, despite all the love that has grown in our relationship, I still get homesickness and it just won’t go away. It’s not the homesickness that disappears the next hour or so. It’s the type that continues to grow stronger and stronger and you become more convinced to make the move back to your home. I begin to remember and think, “I don’t want to miss my brother’s band concerts or sport competitions or just being able to have a nice cup of coffee with my family.”
Then you realise for a split second how amazing the country you are in is and how you would miss it so much if you left. I mean, how adventurous is this! I get to see kangaroos and koalas. I get to live near the beautiful ocean and at the same time be next to the beautiful country side of Victoria with the love of my life.
Do you ever feel this way whether you are in Australia or Europe or South America? Do you ever want to leave because you really miss your family, but at the same time you don’t because hey, who wouldn’t want to be in your place; in a beautiful country with your handsome Australian prince charming?
